Teenager Leli Buttigieg turned over as professional midway through 2023 and inked promotional terms with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.
Training out of the Ibox Gym under Eddie Lam and alongside the likes of Skye Nicolson, Buttigieg made his professional debut on the undercard of Conlan-Gill in Belfast in December. Buttigieg secured a first round stoppage over Mario Oliveira before returning to Belfast in January 2024 with a four-round points win over Artjom Spatar.
Back out soon after, on the undercard of Dalton Smith-Jose Zepeda in March, Buttigieg took on former opponent of Jimmy Sains, Bartlomiej Stryczek. The 19-year-old dropped Stryczek on his way to a comfortable points win in his first six rounder and moved to 4-0 with another shut-out victory in the summer.
After boxing around the UK, Buttigieg finally got to box in front of a home London crowed and shipped over 400 tickets. He moved 5-0 with another points win. Buttigieg closed out 2024 on a Top Tier show, twice dropping Jensen Irving towards a six-round points victory and then opened up his account for 2025 with a war against James Todd, getting his hand raised after six rounds on points.
