George Kambosos Jr signed a co-promotional deal with Matchroom Boxing in November 2024.
The 31-year-old famously defeated Teofimo Lopez in 2021 to claim the Undisputed World Lightweight crown before twice facing Devin Haney and Vasyl Lomachenko.
Kambosos made his Matchroom bow in front of a home Sydney crowd for the first time since 2015. Daud Yordan was the original opponent for Kambosos' Super Lightweight debut but pulled out injured at the start of fight week and in stepped Queensland's Jake Wyllie at late notice. The pair put up a great fight but Kambosos came away with the UD win over 12 rounds and is now eyeing a World Title showdown with Richardson Hitchins.
